Well, after watching all those videos of Maru somehow fitting in tiny boxes, I’d say it’s because Maru doesn’t let something as silly as “physics” get in his way.
I absolutely agree. Maru makes his own rules and will usually persist until he succeeds.
Maru might actually be smaller and/or squishier than Hana

Maru is a lot more experienced with how to fit/pass through tight spaces. Hana has high potential because she is slimmer but is inexperienced. Anyway, I love them both equally.
Leo I think it’s more risk aversion. Part of Maru’s fame is that he is willing to take risks other cats won’t to get inside a box. Once you decide the risk is worth it it’s just a matter of how. And how indeed. Hana sees her head won’t fit clean and decided the risk of going over is less than the risk of getting stuck. Maru is fatter and he knows it so for him it’s easier to try to go through.
I laughed too hard, too many times at this. Brilliant!

Watching this on TV scared the crap out of my cats. I found one in a bathtub and he won’t go near the TV now. The second one regained her calmness after a couple of minutes. Any idea what might have provoked this?

Cats measure if they can fit through a hole by using their whiskers.
My mother told me that. She also told me that the USA has 52 states, since we included Alaska and Hawaii.
I’ve heard that too. Something to do with ulta sensitive nerve endings or something or other in the ends of the whiskers. It helps navigation & prevents them getting stuck in small gaps (usually). I think that’s why they tilt their heads as well. I don’t know if that includes the ‘whiskers’ above the eyes or not.
