It’s not surprising. A Furminator is a bladed fine tooth comb. Of course you’re going to get a mountain of hair out when your comb is actually cutting the hair. Look how it’s ruining the colour and texture of the coat. This doesn’t always grow back properly when you have a double coat like this. Next time, use a rake or slicker. Poor cat, hope the coat recovers from this hacking.
I have one and my cat hates it, he hisses at me as if in pain when i try to use it!

That cats coat looks so matted. I have a bristle brush that doesn’t work on my cat but her hair is not nearly as long. She is shedding her winter coat everywhere!

Kitty was just too precious ! ! ! ! I LOVED how calm kitty was when his owner was brushing him / her, ESPECIALLY under his / her tummy ! ! ! What an angel ! ! ! ! 🤗😚
I find it easier to start from the back end and work up toward the head. Less pulling and less build up to have to get off the cat.
If I had a cat like that, I’d learn how to spin the product of the brushing into yarn and knit with it.
