Ah, a new summer tradition started. *Cooling* *Maru* will certainly trend with flavoured crushed ice 🍧, streaming (chilled) somen noodles, chilled 🍉 water melon, wind-chimes 🎐 and all the other traditional cooling items of mid summer in Japan.
I wonder why the two ladies didn’t care for the cooled tub? 🤔

Hana’s reaction to the lump of ice reminded me of a cat I lived with many years ago.
In her first summer, I put an ice cube in her water bowl. At first, she was fascinated by the weird thing floating in her water, and tried to catch it.
Then, she discovered that the ice had melted. Her reaction when she realised that it had literally _vanished_ right before her eyes… I have never, before or since, seen a cat look so surprised. She actually recoiled in shock, and started looking around the bowl for where the ice had escaped to.
Eventually she decided that I was somehow to blame, glared at me and left the room.

Maru loves new things and isn’t afraid of water. Miri thinks maybe Maru had an accident let’s bury the wet spot. Hana stays away from bath or bathroom. How about putting up a fan inside or outside in front of the ice-bath.

Because of their high body temperature, cats can theoretically be okay in hot weather, around 100°F 🙂 But obviously one must take into account factors like age/health/fur length etc.
An environmentally friendly and energy-saving way to cooling Maru. 😄
Maru seems pleased with his new tub. Perhaps adding a little salt water to the ice will help even out & enhance the cooling effect.🐾
For the first time, Maru is keeping tail inside with him to cool down and not moving it. I like seeing Hana’s face, sharp and alert. Miri’s, always full of curiosity. 😻❤

Maru’s fur looks more thicker than Hana’s and Miri’s, so he may need cooling more than his sisters. They are all so adorable😻💎❤🐾

As usual maru lives the life of luxury! Pre-air conditioning, our cats used to stretch out in the bathtub when it got too hot!
