I’m not sure if this had anything to do with Gon Chan’s scent, because when Tan Chan was first approached, she actually offered her head (allowed zone) for petting (0:07), and only bit the man when his petting strayed from her head. But after she climbed onto her cat tower, she repeatedly rebuffed the man’s hand. Was this because she had finally detected Gon Chan’s scent on his hand, or because she is simply more territorial on her cat tower? Anyway, there was then a slightly unexpected but amusing interval in which Ten Chan seemed to reluctantly tolerate her flank being petted (which the man should know is outside her allowed zone), but as the man pushed his luck (as he always does) and persisted with this, you could see Ten Chan’s irritation building, as her warning noises intensified, until the inevitable explosion of ferocious anger, resulting in the man getting a hard (and well deserved) bite!
