I’m not a big fan of insects, but this creature is amazing.
I have only ever seen a dead one, in a school biology lab specimen cabinet, unfortunately. The largest beetles where I live are only about 1/8 as big as the Rhinoceros beetle, which is kind of impressive on its own.
Though I absolutely understand why the cats are a bit nervous around it…

Even if I’m repetitive: I love Maru!
They are all handling the beetle with care. No claws hissing or attempt to bite. I was afraid it would attach itself to the nose of one of the explorers. Miri looks great on top of the tree. Glad she regained her confidence maybe the electricians in her previous life let her get lost in the gutter and she remembered. Had no idea that these beetles could fly. Only at night ? They really love the garden and gather with anticipation at the glass door.

こちらの動画はほとんど人間が登場しないので、確かに猫屋敷！猫好きには夢の国ですね。そして、野次馬ならぬ、野次猫🤣 猫たちに囲まれて毎日楽しいだろうな。

I cannot imagine my cats being nearly so gentle with an insect that large and slow moving. It’d be flung all over the place and pounced on repeatedly.
I was having flashing backs to last summer when Maru wanted to sit inside the beetle’s tank!

Fine African adventures with all the wild beasts grouped together: a rhinoceros, an elephant, and lovely Miri. So Beautiful when she rises on her hind legs! And Maru, so gentle! 💘
What I find interesting is we don’t really know anything about mugumogu. We don’t really know her voice, or image of her. But she isn’t exploiting Maru/Hana/Miri. She just films the cats interactions, and occasionally sets up events to see what the cats will do.
A wonderful cat owner, that let’s us experience her cats.
That was really cool. Their all so gentle. The beetle didn’t mind crawling on the elephant, cause it knew Maru hasn’t used it a while. Surprised Hana didn’t try and eat it.
Mari says “come here and play with us”. That beetle is an absolute unit. Big just doesn’t describe it. How did you catch it?
Your cats are so well-behaved. They treated the beetle with the respect it deserves!
